Jay MichaelPresident and CEO

Jay is a native Sacramentan. As boys, Jay and his brother Matt used to swim in the American River, often jumping off the Guy West Bridge which is visible from his office building today. After graduation from Encina High School, Jay attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo before transferring to UC Davis where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

In his work at Michael & Sons, Jay was instrumental in expanding the membership of the northern California chapter of the CAI, the Community Association Institute. Beginning in 1987, Jay served for seven years on the Board of Directors and as president in 1994. Jay is also a long-time member of the The Sutter Club in Sacramento and served on its Board from 2000 to 2002.

Jay enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenage sons. The family enjoys skiing, travel and tennis. Jay also loves big family dinners and wine tasting.

Matt MichaelAssociation Manager

Matt has been a part of Michael & Sons since May 1989. After attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and then graduating from UC Berkley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Rhetoric from the College of Letters and Sciences, Matt went to work as a grant director with the National Fitness Campaign. This group placed cardiovascular fitness programs into school districts with grants from large hospitals.

Matt provides management services for quite a few associations in the area, including professional business parks, master planned developments and condominiums. He enjoys the opportunity to wear a number of different hats and loves getting to know the people at the communities he serves.

Married, with two stepsons, in his spare time Matt enjoys reading a broad variety of non-fiction subjects such as history, biography and the natural sciences. He also enjoys fishing in the American River and has a weakness for Italian sports cars (and really, who could blame him?).

Leesa DupreeDirector of Accounting

Leesa Dupree has over two decades of accounting and finance experience in various industries. She earned her bachelors in accounting from California State University, Fullerton, and her MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management. The bulk of her experience is with franchising companies and, as such, Leesa is very accustomed to overseeing accounting and budgeting for a number of different locations.

Leesa grew up in Fair Oaks, CA, and is glad to be back in the Sacramento area after living for several years in southern California. When not keeping the books for Michael & Sons clients, Leesa enjoys knitting, reading, and spoiling her four grandchildren. She is the mother of six children. She is also a serious San Francisco Giants fan.

Leesa and her husband of 38 years, John Dupree, live in Orangevale. They are active in their church and community.

Josh KnutsonOffice Manager

Josh has been with Michael & Sons since June 2014. He graduated from nearby Sacramento State with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and General Management through their Business Program.

The opportunity to work at Michael and Sons was an easy decision as it allowed Josh the chance to gain experience in a new industry and work with an organization that presented a family-like structure. He enjoys the number of different roles that come with his position as well as the daily interaction with the clients that he serves.

Josh spends a majority of his free time with his family or trying to keep up with what is going on in the basketball world. Movies and music also take up a good amount his time.
